Professor Richard Dawkins, Vice President and Distinguished Supporter of the British Humanist Association (BHA), has this week been announced as the recipient of the BHA's prestigious Services to Humanism award, which will be presented at the gala dinner at the BHA Annual Conference in Cardiff on Saturday 9 June.

Journalist and campaigner Patrick Strudwick condemned the role of religious groups in their promotion of “conversion therapy”, during a speech at the annual fundraising lunch of the Gay and Lesbian Humanist Association (GALHA) in Central London on Saturday, Nov. 12.  He also criticized a Church of England newspaper article for equating gay and Humanist campaigners with Nazis.

Humanists from six continents are gathering in Oslo, Norway, ahead of the Eighteenth World Humanist Congress. More than 100 Humanist activists from 40 countries took part in leadership training workshops on August 10 and 11, the two days before  the Congress formally opens.

The Nigerian Humanist Movement, an IHEU member organization, is marking its 15^th anniversary with a conference in the federal capital of Abuja. The conference, from September 22 to 25, is titled “Humanism as the Next Step” and is open to all Humanists.

Le Congrès se tiendra dans le Centre des Congrès d’Oslo. L’Association Humaniste Norvégienne, qui organise ce congrès, est fière d’accueillir les Humanistes du monde entier à Oslo, la capitale dans laquelle tous les ans au mois de Décembre le Prix Nobel de la Paix est attribué.

The General Assembly (GA) was held in the offices of IHEU Member Organization the Centre d’Action Laique in Belgium on the first weekend of August.

Several hundred people joined One Law for All on 20 June at Downing Street to show their opposition to Sharia and religious-based laws in Britain and elsewhere and to demand universal rights and secularism. A new report "Sharia Law in Britain: A Threat to One Law for All and Equal Rights" was published on the day to coincide with the rally.
